How to Make Gift Certificates Pay Off Handsomely
Do you sell gift certificates? Maybe consider doing so.
People can buy gift certificates for themselves to use for future services (for example, sell a $100 gift certificate for $80). It’s a guarantee for future business.
People will buy a gift certificate for others for special occasions. You know that most people actually prefer gifts of “experience” rather than just more “stuff”. A benefit of people giving gift certificates to others is that it’s a great way to introduce your services to potentially new customers.
Be sure to put in an expiration date on the certificate (one year or less is standard) so that you don’t have people 3 years from now trying to redeem.
Consider selling bundles of gift certificates (ten $50 gift certificates for $400) or some other discounted bundle. Hopefully they will give the gifts to 10 different friends (future customers). You probably want to print on the certificates that they can not be combined or used with other promotional discounts.
Another benefit is that someone might come in with a $50 gift certificate but actually orders $125 or even $300 worth of services (hopefully you have some high priced packages). That’s another win for you.
